Windows 10 Mobile roll-out begins for existing 8.1 devices

Yesterday marks the day when Microsoft finally announced that they will begin updating existing Windows Phone 8.1 devices to Windows 10 Mobile. Until now, users have had access to the operating system through the Windows Insider program.

However after multiple delays, the following phones have been listed for official support:

Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, MCJ Madosma Q501

It would be wise to notice that all phones with less than 1GB of ram have been excluded from this list, even though they may be running the upgrade currently through the Insider program. Microsoft has obviously made some decisions on the user experience which may leave some Windows faithful bitter, even if the decision is better for the long time. There has been a lot of hard choices made at Microsoft and we begin to wonder when their PR nightmare will be over.

I was thinking to buy a Microsoft Lumia but due to some problems I was not able to buy now it's time to buy and to get this offer truly a jackpot for me and other users.

I've yet to actually try a Windows phone with 10 installed so maybe I shouldn't judge, but if it's anything like the other devices in the Windows range of mobile phones I'm not going to be purchasing one anytime soon.

Android and iOS have dominated the mobile market, and while Windows 10 operating software might close that gap a little, I'm not sure that Apple and Google are going to be looking over their shoulders just yet.

My current phone is too small to see apps. Therefore, Windows has not been an issue. However, I'm currently on the threshold of joining the rest of the modern world. Is it worth it to get a phone with Windows 10? Should I look at other options? Does it affect upfront pricing?

I'd certainly try before you buy, and while the internet is obviously a great place to look at some reviews of different devices and see what you like, I'd make sure you get to a local store to try out the different devices, as at the end of the day it's got to be down to your own personal opinion what… Read more »
